Clarke Middle School (CMS) is a member of Clarke County School District and the Community Garden Network School Garden Committee in Athens, Georgia. As an integral aspect of CMS AgriScience classes, CMS students are involved in all phases of produce production: amending and tilling soil; sowing seeds in the greenhouse and transplanting seedlings to vegetable plots and the vertical herb garden; eating directly from the garden and harvesting larger amounts to take home. CMS students are literally becoming connected to their food and where it comes from! As the garden grows, it will supply food for the cafeteria and school events for the enjoyment of the entire CMS community.

VISION of Clarke Middle School Farm:

Clarke Middle School students will grow and harvest organically-grown produce to enjoy in their school's cafeteria and to share with the community in the near future and for years to come.

MISSION of Clarke Middle School Farm:

To provide Clarke Middle School students with opportunities and instruction for learning to grow, harvest, and prepare their own food in such a way that the resulting knowledge and nutrition empowers them and encourages them to share the benefits of gardening with their families and community in the present and into the future.
