About the Program:

We want the garden to double as an outdoor classroom that supports the Montessori Philosophy that our school embodies. Therefore, our garden should teach plant science and the difference between sun and shade growing needs; provide opportunities for lessons on composting, planting, weed and watering, and harvesting as well as pest management; give children an opportunity to explore with tactile medium namely dirt, seeds, and organic gardening materials; integrate nutritional concepts of growing vegetables and fruit from seed to table; and finally, provide a positive environment for building community by sharing the garden space with the neighborhood through Summertime Harvest Partners. This garden grant will give us an opportunity to build a secure storage shed for our gardening tools. . This program is supported by .
