About the Program:

Cindy's Garden to Table is a business interested in educating youth and adults about the importance of nutrition and health for the family and individual. Cindy's mission is to educate children and adults about the importance of diet to their overall health. By eating a whole foods plant-based diet we can heal our bodies and achieve optimal health. By teaching a love of organic gardening and cooking that uses fresh, seasonal ingredients, we can learn to enjoy our food choices, and heal our bodies and our planet.

Cindy owned one of the first health food, garden to table restaurants in Santa Cruz, California back in the 80s and 90s. She has over 20 years professional cooking and organic gardening experience. Cindy wants to learn how to take her passion for food, nutrition and gardening and find an effective way to get the message out to the Santa Cruz community.

Last summer Cindy used a community garden plot in Scotts Valley to teach gardening and cooking camps to children. With the help of local middle school and high school volunteers, Cindy had a small garden plot that she used to teach them about organic gardening, nutrition and healthy cooking and eating.

This year Cindy is beginning work with Scotts Valley High School staff and Global Student Embasy (https://globalstudentembassy.org/) to create a garden space with high school students.

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
