About the Program:

We grow a huge range of fruits and vegetables from raspberries and blueberries to pumpkins, lettuce and onions. Pupils sow the seeds, nurture the crops and then harvest. Some produce goes to the the school cafeteria so the pupils get a chance to eat what they have grown. Some produce gets used in lessons across all curriculum subjects. All pupils get a chance to learn about growing their own food and living in a more sustainable way. We run lunchtime and after school gardening clubs and each class has two head gardeners who go on gardening trips. We run a 'Lesson in Loaf each year where we grow our own wheat which we then mill and make into our own bread! We are a partner school for the RHS Campaign for School Gardening and are part of School Food Matters Waitrose produce sale. We have lots happening and its wonderful to hear of other schools across the world doing the same! The Edible School Playground
