CHICAGO COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT

The Roseland Community Development Corporation and Healthcare Consortium of Illinois is collaborating and partnering with Non Profit Organizations, Urban Farms & Gardens, Educational Institutions, Chicago Park District, and the City of Chicago to implement and develop the Chicago Community Garden Project.

The Chicago Community Garden Project will focus on training and educating youth in horticulture, community development , and many Going Green Projects.  Developing youth driven urban gardens & urban farms, home gardens, recycling, composting, vermin composting and Aquaponic just to name a few.

The project will establish a platform for the promotion of youth and community empowerment. The CCGP will serve as a consortium of individuals and entities whose vision is become a healthier community.
The youth will develop, maintain and implement gardening projects throughout the Greater Chicago-Land communities. Participants will develop and manage community beautification projects to combat vacant lots and delapidated buildings. Most crimes against youth occur from 3pm -6pm, which makes this time pertinent for developing safe and fun activities for community development.

Participants will maintain urban gardens, farms, rooftop gardens and Aquaponic systems learning hands on from experts of their field. Community gardening provides many benefits to a community and an individual. Gardening promotes healthier eating and
