At Tri-County we currently have 5 raised garden beds , a courtyard that the students designed with window boxes, and a new greenhouse. We integrate our curriculum everyday into our gardening initiative. Our students, most of whom are new to horticulure attain valuable skills throughout the year . Such as: building community partnerships, connecting themselves with the environment by recycling and composting, improving their nutritional intake, begining a process of independence , starting gardens at thier own residence, and building self worth through the daily upkeep of our plants and vegetables. Our program has introduced new and innovative ways to create a calm and serene landscape for our students who struggle with mental health and learning disabilities. Our program continues to grow every year with the help of the students and the community. We have been recognized by our local papers and the Green Team . We look forward to creating a program that represents truely what our name stands for: Compost, Agriculture, Recycling ,Eating healthy and Sustainability. C.A.R.E.S.
