Cache High Alternative HighSchool
We will build the soils fertility through green cover crops and compost additions. We will build raised beds, build a perimeter around the field to limit grass and weed infiltration to the field. We will use netting to limit pest access to the crops. We will use a rain catch barrel system and drip lines to lessen clean tap-able water use. We will use prevention and crop rotations methods.
One senior high school student has already been accepted into the Americorp program. Carlos will now further his education at USU and return with me next year to further motivate other students to further their education. Any senior student that is willing to commit them selves to 300 hours of service is eligible for Americorp and the grant stipend for collage. Our success in the project is not only measured by the success in growing organic crops and feeding the students healthy vegetables, but also in the success of motivating the students to make healthy and beneficial choices in their future.
