Burbank Community Day School
The primary purpose of this garden is to teach students at the Community Day School sustainable gardening practices. The Community Garden will promote the formation and expansion of the community and the student relations. It develops the resources to develop a greener and healthier community. The garden will serve many educational purposes in reference to the production of nutritious foods, conservation resources; it will encourage research on the impact of community gardening and greening. The Community Garden will help grow leaders and assume the responsibility for organizing and maintaining their gardens. It helps students develop a sense of ownership and knowledge of issues like environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, the Artist Colony, a residential facility designed for senior citizens, presents an opportunity to conduct educational seminars in which students and senior citizens can teach each other how to implement a successful garden and the numerous health benefits derived from gardening.
The grant would help us repair our irrigation system that is presently not working at this time
