Bayview Elementary School

The goal of the Bayview Community Garden is to first and foremost, to enhance student learning through a hands-on experience. The garden provides the opportunity to move the focus from simply consuming produce, to planning, creating and cultivating it in a collaborative method. It allows students to interact fully in and with their physical environment outside the classroom integrating curriculum. Students will be able to explore and incorporated more vegetables in their diet through tasting and trying. The garden will involve the school community in ecology and organic food production moving everyone in the direction of a healthier dietary focus. Additionally, produce yields will be distributed to families within the Bayview community with financial needs.
