About the Program:

Alpine Edible Schoolyards (AES) is the hub of urban farm and school garden installation, maintenance, and education in the Bow Valley. A liaison, resource centre, connector and facilitator, AES works with school boards, administrators, teachers, students, small businesses, municipalities, environmental groups and community members to ensure full, safe, utilization and continued success of fertile learning grounds.

In partnership with Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS), AES has installed and operates two urban farm/school gardens in Canmore: one on the rooftop of the Canmore Collegiate High School, and one in the schoolyard of Lawrence Grassi Public School.

We work collaboratively to nurture experiential inspired learning, local food production and community education. We envision a future where all students in the Bow Valley have access to a school garden. Engaging future generations in growing, cooking and eating whole foods is essential to nurturing healthy communities, raising keen environmental stewards and creating thriving sustainable food systems for all residents here in Canmore and beyond.
