Planting Seeds for Fresh Learning: Adopt-a-Planter
In 2013-14, the Frank Allis Elementary School Garden plans to extend the learning of students into their neighborhood with an Adopt-a-Planter summer program. With parent permission, students will receive a container of school-raised garden plants to care for at home during the summertime. In addition, student gardeners will receive a garden journal, a form of fertilizer (either worm castings, worm team, or a commercial slow-release), and care instructions. We plan to partner with local business (Home Depot or Farm and Fleet) to promote growing foods in small spaces. We will also partner with a local chef (Crema Caf̃
