About the Program: 

Alimentamente is a social-environmental education program, founded by a team of biologists in 2014, with a mission to promote conscious and responsible food consumption.

Our work consists on discussing the myriad of dimensions connected to food, and cooking as a team in our kitchen classroom. Our recipes are vegan, using fresh, organic and agroecological ingredients from family based agriculture in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Our main partners are schools, where we work with students from all age groups, as well as staff and families. Our pedagogy is based on food as a central axis, and culinary as an educational tool. We use a transdisciplinary approach, and in our didactic practice the kitchen is a colectivelly built classroom.

It is gratifying to see our goals coming to life as students develop a sense of teamwork; curiosity; creativity; autonomy; and a critical view on their role in the food chain.
