About the Program:

The mission of Lincoln's Edible Garden Project is for students to experience hands-on, participatory learning in the science, health, and English classes to learn about food, nutrition and their environment. Our goal for this year is to solidify and expand the existing garden program so that a greater number of students will have the opportunity to experience garden learning in their classes and after school programs. Teachers will incorporate real-life environmental experiments related to planning the garden, growing, and harvesting food, as well as tie in larger themes of environment and sustainability. Through in-class lessons and after school programs, we will use the garden as a resource to teach students about the benefits of urban agriculture and local food systems. The garden will provide healthy, fresh, sustainable produce for students and staff to taste and share with their families.
