Warren Lane Urban Farm

Program Type:
Garden Classrooms
About the Program:

The Warren Lane Urban Garden at Warren Lane Elementary School in Inglewood, CA will be a space for students to learn through structured class activities and for local residents to enjoy through community events. Teachers can utilize the space for outdoor, hands-on activities that engage the students in science, health, and environmentalism while encouraging students to pursue S.T.E.M. related fields. With quality, affordable, and organically grown food production as the major driving force of the urban farm, locally grown fruits & vegetables will also be available to community members through Inglewood's 1st CSA & Farmer's Market, all made possible from the produce grown on this 1 acre site. Chicken coops for egg harvesting, aquaponics, composting, and good old conventional in ground planting will all happen in this space sustainably as the farm will be solar powered. The Warren Lane Urban Farm will serve as the model for what the rest of the 22 schools in the Inglewood Unified School District can do to change Inglewood, CA from a food desert to a healthy food oasis. Please donate today to make this project come to life.
