Montezuma School to Farm Project
The Montezuma School to Farm Project (MSTFP) has been transforming the way students empower themselves and their communities around food and local agriculture since 2009. The Montezuma School to Farm Project mission unites our local agricultural heritage with our growing future by engaging students at the crossroads of sustainable agriculture, resource conservation, health and economics through educational experiences in outdoor school garden classes, on farm field trips, and summer farm camps.
MSTFP successfully addresses its’ mission through established school garden programs, local farm field trips, and summer programs – all of which utilize local producers as teachers and mentors. Students are receiving critical hands-on experiential education regarding water and soil conservation practices, sustainable farming and ranching practices and learning through Seed to Table curriculum how to grow, harvest, and cook local foods. These programs are foundational to our regional agricultural heritage and invaluable to the self-sufficiency and future of our communities in Montezuma County.
