About the Program:

The Sustainability Academy at Lawrence Barnes is a Pre-K-Grade 5 public magnet school focused on sustainability.  Each of the 11 classrooms have at least one garden bed that grows food and flowers connected to the classroom curriculum. There are herb gardens, raspberry and blueberry patches, grape arbors, gardens for root vegetables, and gardens that grow produce for the school cafeteria, including the Kindergarten ABC Garden, which features a host of flowers and edible snacks that begin with all of the different letters of the alphabet.  Our gardens are cheerfully supported by students, staff, community friends and parents, and community partners.
