About the Program: 

The program inspires and educates our community at all levels to garden organically, conserve natural resources and support local food systems in order to cultivate a healthy urban environment and conserve wildlife habitat.

The gardens are located in a city park, across from the University of Texas-Brownsville campus and covers approximately one and half acres.  Students from the surrounding schools work together with university students and the local neighborhood to grow organic produce.  The gardens have an aquaponics system, and rain catchment system and provide community workshops for backyard gardens and rain catchment.  You can learn to make healthy delicious dishes at Cookery Camp held at the Park and Recreation Bldg every Thursday afternoon.
