The EARTH Program at Gifft Hill School(GHS) is a service learning horticulture program developed and implemented by the Department of Horticulture at Iowa State University. The goal of the program is to design, instll and manage attractive landscapes for sustainable food prodution. We integrate gardening education into the middle school curriculum and offer a high school elective. Eventually, we will provide healthy, localy grown food for the lunch room and culinary labs. The expanding school garden serves as a model of sustainable living to the students, the school and the wider St. John Community.
