About the Program:

We are a team from three organizations that collaborate to fulfill the mission of Hoa ʻĀina O Makaha - “Creating Peaceful Communities in Harmony with Nature, through the Eyes, Hands and Hearts of the Children”.  Hoa ʻĀina O Makaha, also lovingly known as 'The Farm', by community residents, is a place where dreams have become a reality by developing a barren piece of land into an educational resource, and garden, center.  Together with the children of our community, Hoa ʻĀina helps to rediscover the Hawaiian culture, the love for the land, and the love for each other and for the world.

Makaha is a rural community on the Wai'anae Coast of the island of O'ahu, Hawaii.  The largest concentration of Native Hawaiians, in the state, reside on the Wai'anae Coast.

Our team is made of an organic farmer and the farm manager from Hoa ʻĀina O Makaha; a teacher from Makaha Elementary School which is situated next to the farm; and a program Administrator from University of Hawaii which supports Hoa ʻĀina programming.
