About the Program:

We have not started a program, but it's my heart's desire to start a gardening program in my district. My mission is to teach our students to empower themselves to make healthy food choices through gardening. I have parents that are willing to help get this program started, & I know our students will be so excited to participate in any way they can!

I have a Home Depot connection that will be able to contribute materials to our program. We just need a little guidance & inspiration to get us on the right track! If we are chosen, I plan to start right away. We have so much green space at our school! I live nearby so I can stop by to water if I need to.

I have followed Alice Waters since her book Fanny at Chez Panisse. It was a favorite of all four of my children. I make a point of taking my family there every time we travel to the Bay area.

Healthy eating has been a passion of mine for the past six years. I finally realized how my eating was affecting my health and the health of my family. I cut out all processed foods & have become a role model for my family, friends, students, & their parents. I plan to use everything I learn at the class to teach the students & their families how to grow their own food. How empoering is that! Thank you for this opportunity.
