About the Program:

Nourishing the North Shore (NNS) is a collaborative effort of the Newburyport Health Department, YWCA of Greater Newburyport and the Newburyport Learning Enrichment Center. Our mission at NNS is to build a resilient and connected community and ensure access to fresh healthy produce for all of those in the greater Newburyport area. Hunger affects our health in more than just a physical sense; it has a major impact on mental and social well-being. At NNS we are focused on addressing all of these aspects of health, and are working towards a creating a community in which everyone can enjoy healthy food and feels connected to their neighbors and the natural world. Through our programming we break down barriers to food access, cook and learn about nutrition together, get in the dirt to grow food in our in kitchen and community gardens, and connect with local farmers.
