Feldwood Elementary

The main goal of creating an “Outdoor Geo-Classroom” is to provide nature-related learning that develops observation and problem-solving skills, science and math abilities, imagination, creativity, and collaboration between students, teachers, and stakeholders ensuring lifelong learning and student achievement.

Further, the goal of this project is to incorporate nature as an integral part of children’s daily learning by building an Outdoor Geo-Classroom within the center courtyard of our school. The classroom will benefit students by enhancing established classroom curricula and academic standards through expanded year-round and place-based teaching opportunities. The program will engage and involve parents, students, local clubs and community businesses, and increase student, teacher and parent appreciation of environmental stewardship.
