Hand Middle School garden goals include:

1) To revitalize and expand the current garden space that is currently not being used due to lack of funds.

2) To cultivate children's intellectual, emotional and social engagement with things that must be measured, counted, weighed, arranged, planned and cared for.

3) To provide opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning in school curriculum subjects.

4) To create a foundation for science and biology early on to prepare students for future grades.

5) To make our school a healthier and greener environment by practicing sustainable gardening techniques that restore natural resources.

6) To educate students on the importance of nutrition at school and at home, and encourage every child's ownership over his/her own health.

7) To teach students, parents, volunteers, and community members about the joy of hard work and what it can produce. (Plant a seed, nurture it, tend to it, watch it grow, experience the reward of your work)
