About the Program:

The garden's goal is to create an enrichment farm program within the Fox Elementary School curriculum in which all students have monthly learning opportunity at Fox Farm. The program supplements and correlates with the SOLs for each grade level. It's a unique hands-on experience for all Fox students that integrates science, math, art, and cooking.

Throughout the year each class will have monthly 20-minute lessons at the Fox Farm planting, working with soil/compost, watering, weeding, harvesting and cooking/preparing their harvest depending on a season. Students will complete observation journals and work on their science projects.

The grant money will go towards improving the Fox Farm garden. We plan on installing a rain water barrel, a weather station and hoop houses in a few beds to extend the growing season. All these projects are science and math focused. Fox students will be able to conduct experiments and make their observations for their math and science projects.
