About the Program:

The goal of our garden is to provide our students and their families with the opportunity to enjoy watching plants grow and involve them in the process of nurturing life. It's so exciting to witness the stages of life of plants! This grant would allow us to maintain our 12-bed garden. We want to buy more soil, build another bed and buy more bark mulch to keep down the weeds. This grant will also help us expand the variety of plants to represent the many cultures at our school. We plan to incorporate plants from different countries that would grow well in our climate. We will solicit the assistance of our school families to help us locate, plant and care for these plants. Our students would be able to learn actively about history through planting 3 Sisters gardens and colonial gardens. We want to add dwarf fruit trees in barrels so our kids can see firsthand how fruit develops. I can't wait to make lemonade with my students using lemons from our own trees!
