Welcome to “The Garden of Delectable Edibles” This will be a place where children can get their hands dirty, snack on tasty plants, and learn how to grow food for themselves, for their friends, and for their families.
Our goal is to directly involve the children in the practice of growing and harvesting edible plants and to show them how fun and how easy it is to grow the food that makes us healthy, smart, and strong.
The parents of the newly formed Delectable Edibles Garden Committee are requesting grant funding so that we can provide and sustain 28 raised garden beds. This provides 2 beds per classroom for our K – 5 students, 2 for our special needs student classroom, and 2 more for the cafeteria to have their own garden.
We are looking for funding for building new beds; providing organic soil, compost, and mulch; money for seeds and transplants; and if funding allows, additional garden tools and accessories to stake, tie, and maintain the gardens for the school year.
