About the Program:

We have garden beds since 2009. We have been growing fruits and vegetables to share with the students and community since we started. Our main goal is to teach students how to make healthy choices for their meals. Our goal for this grant is to fix the garden beds because they are beginning to fall apart. If we don't reinforce them I' m afraid they will not support the growth anymore and we will have to close the gardens all together. We want to build concrete boxes around the existing beds and refill them with dirt and new plants. We want to make the gardens beautiful again. Right now we have six beds made of wood that are getting worn out. We also want to put a learning classroom outdoors. We plan to put two tables with benches in the garden area for the students to do their work in. We also need a storage chest for our tools. Right now we are keeping them in the motor room and the custodian has to be around for us to access the tools. With the grant we will accomplish what we need.
