About the Program: 

At Beverly Woods Elementary, we are passionate about teaching the whole child. The goal of our garden is to improve the overall health and wellness of children through:
• Education about nutritious food sources (not just from the grocery store!),
• Hands-on learning outside while growing healthy food,
• Literally tasting the fruits (and vegetables) of their work.

This grant will allow the following purchases, all figures assume purchases will be made throughout a one-year period after funds are received:
• Extension of existing water system to the garden area – approx. $800
• Routine maintenance on the wooden fence and chicken wire surrounding the garden area – approx. $300
• Twenty-five 25-quart bags of organic potting mix / soil – approx. $250
• Five gallons of organic Compost Tea – approx. $100
• Seeds, seedlings and plants – approx. $250
• Wheelbarrow – approx. $100
• Garden gloves and additional tools for the garden – approx. $150
