About the Program: 

A place to Read and Feed. The garden will consist of log planter box benches backed by trellis and placed in a circle to create an outdoor classroom. Students will to grow vegetables and herbs to feed themselves and the community. The Spanish teacher will be able to teach not vocabulary but practical language skills through gardening during his class.. The students will be able to practice Spanish in a real life agricultural setting, while at the same time growing herbs that are specific to different Spanish speaking countries, allowing them to create dishes using those herbs to share with other students and the community. Science students will be able to perform real life practical experiments to determine which type of vegetables grows best in their climate. Art students will have living plant for their art work. The garden will provide a place for students to give tours and teach the elementary students and community members at large about gardening and nutrition.
