Galatas Elementary

A Whole Foods Garden Grant will afford our students, faculty and community an opportunity to build a raised garden bed and to purchase garden supplies. The garden will be maintained by our students through a garden club. The club will be comprised of 25 third and fourth grade students that have an interest in learning about and caring for a sustainable garden. The vegetables and herbs that are grown in the garden will be used in our classrooms for science, math and writing lessons that support the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Hands-on activities that focus on plant structure, measurement, ecology, economy and our environment will be developed using the items grown in the garden.
