About the Program:
At Curbside gardens the students learn about the science of gardening and the complete plant cycle, from seed to seed. The food that is produced in the gardens is used to teach about healthy eating and donated to help support the school's culinary arts program. The cooking classes help support healthy eating in the school as well as making meals for those in need in the community.
The garden begins late each fall with the planting of the garlic. Early spring the seeds are planted indoors and finally transfered to the gardens by late May.
Some of the types of plants have included many different varieties of peppers and tomatoes, eggplant, many different beans, okra, lettuces, and potatoes.
