About the Program:

Our gardens' goals are two fold:
On an individual level (children/teachers/parents), Planet Manhasset seeks to
connect people to nature, to foster awareness of healthy nutrition (including fresh vegetables and herbs in one's diet), and sustainable organic gardening practices to help protect our environment from unnecessary contaminants.

On a community level, the school gardens are a venue for community team work, sharing in the rewards (watching the gardens grow as a result of its labor). The school gardens also provide the community an opportunity to help those in need by contributing the majority of the harvest to a local food pantry.

The grant funds will make possible the furtherance of these goals by allowing the gardens to continue. Funds are needed for the purchase of seeds, pants, organic soil to replenish the garden beds, fertilizer, stakes and tools so there is an adequate supply for each of the school gardens.
