About the Program: 

1. Goal: To establish student and community interest about the benefits of growing their own fruits and vegetables (i.e. environmental stewardship, improved nutrition, teamwork, and community cohesiveness).
a. Objective: Develop a garden space for students and community members to gain exposure to growing fruits and vegetables.
b. Objective: Cultivate partnerships with businesses and area residents to build community cohesiveness and a joint vision of health and well-being through gardening.
c. Objective: Provide students the opportunity to taste fresh produce after each harvest.
d. Objective: Explore the opportunity for food services to use produce from the garden in school meals and/or activities.
2. Goal: Increase knowledge and application of gardening to students from seventh and eighth grade.
a. Objective: Create and implement curriculums in Science, Physical Education, and Math that incorporate gardening by the start of 2014-15 academic year.
a. Objective: Form a peer to peer gardening educational opportunity as part of the schools after school tutoring program.
