About the Program:

The Learning Prep School Horticulture Program and Greenhouse has been providing the local community with student-grown flowering plants and vegetables since 1980. Throughout this time thousands of students have worked to learn life and work skills and connect to the environment through the process of propagating and caring for plants. The Whole Kids Foundation grant would enable the Learning Prep School to further develop the Horticulture program through cross pollinating its curriculum with the LPS Culinary Arts program and strengthen its community connections through the development of a garden-to-table program. As the school looks to the future, Learning Prep School is seeing the value in creating connections with its curriculum so students can more holistically develop their learning skills. Our goal is to use the successes of these two programs to build a garden-to-table initiative to teach students sustainable life and work skills.
