Broward Children's Center North
This grant will make it possible for us to create a Horticultural Therapy program and Sensory Garden for our K-12 program which will enhance learning, and improve cognitive and social development for our children with disabilities. This project will be incorporated into our lesson plans and the children will learn about flowers, vegetables and herbs, how they grow, and will experience sensory integration. Our children will actively participate in making choices from deciding on which types of flowers, herbs and vegetables that will be planted to the daily procedures of maintaining a successful garden. Lessons that will be taught are territorial/seasonal growth of both; flowers and herbs, background information on flowers, herbs, and vegetables and what it entails to maintain a successful garden.
