About the Program:

Since September of this year, our goal has been to revitalize our school garden so our students can learn about the importance of, and potential to sustainably grow fresh, whole food within the city of Boston, while supporting academic outcomes for written and verbal communication.

After many years as a much-loved but under-utilized space, we as a school are working to secure the necessary funding and resources needed to revitalize the garden into a highly productive and self-supporting outdoor classroom. By next summer, we are planning to have used the garden to support lessons in science and math, and as the centerpiece of a service learning initiative.

In addition to supporting academic outcomes for our students, this grant will allow us to provide our students, their families, and our neighborhood at large with fresh, whole food and in doing so, help to address food insecurity within our community.
