About the Program:

Winegard Elementary School is a Title I public school with over 700 students. 89% of students qualify for free or reduced lunches, and many students receive bags of dry and canned goods to take home every week. Our goal is to create a school garden that serves multiple roles: as an outdoor classroom where students can get hands-on learning for math, history and science lessons, a demonstration site for students to see where food comes from and try new healthy foods, a way for students to learn the importance of sustainability and helping those in need, and a source of produce to provide for our neediest families.
