About the Program:

Our goal is for all K-3 students at Cardiff School to garden once a week throughout the school year. To make this happen, we are in the process of expanding our vegetable garden of 4 raised beds to 20.

Once the garden is expanded, every child will have one square foot of individual space in which to garden. A credentialed teacher with a background in garden based eduction will run The Grow Your Lunch program, which will provide each class with a weekly 45 minute gardening session. Every student in the school will have the opportunity to plan, plant, and care for their very own garden.

We rallied community support over the summer to help us relocate a fence and are in the process of raising money for the irrigation system, the 20 new beds, and the funds needed to run the Grow Your Lunch program.

This grant will help us complete our garden expansion so students can grow vegetables for the school cafeteria and their own consumption.

This program is supported by Scrumptious Schoolyards.
