About the Program:

Our goal for creating a garden at Seaview Elementary is to develop an organic, educational food garden that can be used as an outdoor classroom for the entire school to deepen the teaching of science, social studies, health and nutrition. Our garden will be utilized by every teacher and student, with each class having their own designated garden bed with which to experiment and explore. The garden will be used to examine plant lifecycles, make predictions and perform experiments, to grow food for cooking classes and encourage the increased consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. Through the garden we hope to engage the community, build school pride, look at the issues of food security and encourage students to become global citizens. This program is supported by .
