Southern Delaware School of the Arts
School Nutrition Agri-Culture (SNAC) transforms the schoolyard into a vibrant outdoor classroom and thriving ecosystem where children and families can get a first-hand experience in growing wholesome food. We improve access to nutritious, affordable food and nutrition education. Our long-term goals are to further develop an integrated Delaware educationd garden-based curriculum for elementary school students. Using a collaborative team approach, the SNAC program director will compile and correlate key curriculum resources and report their usage according to Delaware State Standards. The SNAC garden schedule will also serve as a template for replication in other schools. The director will work closely with teachers from each grade level to maintain and utilize the garden. This grant will allow our program to continue with adequate curriculum resources and teacher/volunteer training as we work to sustain and expand our program to other at-risk schools in the district.
