About the Program:

Our goal is for our students to graduate from our campus with the skills & understanding of what healthy foods are, how to find the joy of growing them, & the awareness of the environmental impact they have. The Whole Kids Foundation Garden Grant will enable Crown Valley Elementary School to provide much needed repairs to our existing garden & green house, lesson plans for the teachers to use in the garden, & materials and seeds to plant & continue growing a thriving garden from year to year. Our garden is the central focus of our school grounds. It is a place where our children can learn in a serene environment not only about the techniques of growing food but also the joys & discoveries in the garden, increased feelings of confidence, responsibility, & becoming great observers & problem solvers. Crown Valley's garden is also widely used by our community. On the weekends you routinely see families weeding small areas, reading or just enjoying the peace and quiet. The garden is a place where the teachers, staff, children and community bond together. Our hope is that we can provide the maintenance and resources to keep our garden growing for generations to come with the help of The Whole Kids Foundation.
