About the Program:

Students will help to plant, care, water and harvest the fruit from the trees planted in the Tropical Fruit Tree Garden. In addition, the students will participate interactively in a horticultural and nutritional orientation. There will be an opportunity for other educational / information workshops conducted by the Rare Fruit and Vegetable Council of Broward (County) and the nutritionist at the nearest Whole Foods Market will put on a session for both teachers, administration and students. The project team will work with the school custodian to ensure that the garden gets established, florishes and is maintained to a high standard that the team will set forth at the outset of the project. Partnering with NatureScape Broward, a County outreach program that teaches residents how to create a landscape that will conserve water, reduce pollution and create habitat to attract native and migratory wildlife, will not only help to preserve our precious water resources, but will also add value to the school and enhance the learning experience.

This program is supported by BROWARD COUNTY AUDUBON SOCIETY INC dba South Florida Audubon Society.
