Middle School

Kevin G. Langan School

It is the goal of the Langan School Garden that it enables the students of the School to learn gardening techniques and to grow fruits and vegetables both for display and for consumption at the School, the Center for Disability Services and for the students

Christ Covenant School

Our garden's goal is to bring the life the lessons our students are learning in the classroom. Instead of memorizing the definitions of words, the garden is giving our students real-world examples of what the definitions for these words mean. This grant would equip our school with the capacity to take our garden to the next level and incorporate ways for our surrounding community to benefit from its presence.

Cocopah Middle School

Our garden goal is to further students' independence and involvement in our school and community by allowing them to create tangible items that can be shared with others. Our ultimate goal would be to have typical peers working along side our students with disabilities to produce and maintain living things. With this grant, we will be able to impact our students' lives, not only to further our students' character but also to provide meaningful academic and social opportunities that will help them become contributors tat our school.

Browne Academy

Our vision for the Browne Sustainable Garden is to provide an interactive outdoor learning space for students to connect with the food they eat, experiment and explore a variety of natural process, develop an appreciation for nature, and thrive. Through this project we hope to provide a garden bed for every grade in the school, K-8, to enhance the curriculum and engage students in their learning.

Community Roots Academy

If awarded a grant we intend to use the funds to purchase the necessary tools and materials to construct and maintain an above ground garden on the school's campus. All of the work will be performed with the students and directed/managed by school staff and parental volunteers. We will incorporate lessons in math, environmental studies (including soil studies, environmental impacts, hydrology and biology), humanities and fostering teamwork.

Mitkof Middle School

Petersburg School + Community Sustainable Garden's mission is to connect both youth and elders to explore the mosaics of plants, people, cultural heritage, science and sustainable living in a collaborative effort as we act together to enhance the community of Petersburg.

Hamlin PK-8

The goal of incorporating these gardens into our school climate is to encourage wellness and healthy eating habits among our students and families.

Westview Elementary School

Our garden goals are to provide our students with hands on opportunities to learn about where their food comes from, how their food choices impact their health and environment, and how to nourish themselves. In the garden students will learn the cycles of food production, share fresh picked and prepared snacks, and feel empowered to make healthier food choices.
We see a lot of highly processed nutrient poor food in our student

St. Anthony Catholic School

The primary goal for our school garden is to immerse our students in the process of planting, growing and harvesting vegetables, so they may learn about and make healthy food choices. Our school is located in Mississippi, which has the highest childhood obesity rate in the United States. (http://www.childhealthdata.org/docs/nsch-docs/mississippi-pdf.pdf) Children will learn about where food comes from and what good vs. bad food can do for their bodies and minds.

PASC - BCSSSD

Our campus serves the special needs of learners with Autism. In September we were granted permission to run the school garden (has been unused for two years). The garden will have multiple functions for our learners. It will be utilized as a vocational program for high school students, teach our learners an age appropriate leisure activity, enhance social skills, provide opportunties for desensitization and food exploration as well as meeting NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards for science, health and nutrition in a hands-on method.
