North Bay Children's Center - Garden of Eatin' Project

In 2004, NBCC received a grant from The First 5 Marin Children & Families Commission to develop a Community Garden project so children could learn about health and nutrition through an integrated, hands-on environmental curriculum. We believe that the lessons learned in our programs can lay the foundation for a lifetime of good health. NBCC’s Garden of Eatin’ program has been recognized by the California State Legislature, Marin County Board of Supervisors and the National Garden Association as a project of exceptional community value.

CommunityGrows

Our mission is to cultivate healthy youth through growing gardens in diverse, low-income communities.

Marquez Charter School Edible Garden

The Edible Garden Program at Marquez Charter strives to show children where their food comes from and encourages them to eat more healthy food.

We have a Seed to Table approach where children plant, grow and then eat what they grow. Students taste from the garden whether it be chives, tomatoes, mint, arugula, lettuce or strawberry guavas, as well as cook such recipes such as salsa, pesto, or succotash.

St. Catherine School Garden

We have an area of 50' x 100' of raised beds and open areas, including several fruit trees. Teachers work with our Garden Coordinator to plan lessons that tie in with classroom curriculum. Food from the garden is used for classroom activities and some is given to our onsite food bank.

Cambridge Elementary School Garden

Our school garden has about a dozen raised beds of vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers. We have compost containers, an on-site "garden shed" made from an old shipping container.

Boulder Creek Elementary Learning Garden

The BCE Learning Garden is a parent run garden program for children in grades K-5.

Pittsburg Unified School District

Pittsburg USD has created a Farm to school environment where we are utilizing Farm to school for our enhanced Nutrition program.  In addition, through the USDA Farm to School program grant, we will source and procure fresh, local produce to serve in our nutrition program.  This will aid in our community support and allow for students to learn how the Food system works.

The Gardens at Prairie

Students, teachers, families and neighbors of the Prairie Elementary community are coming together to live, learn, work and play in a more sustainable way!

NOSH Nourishing Our Student's Health

NOSH teaches children how to have healthy bodies. This program is a hands-on cooking and nutrition class for young people. Children will experience the pleasures of preparing and enjoying "real food" that is both nutritious and delicious - an essential step toward health and well-being. Through cooking, games, stories and films kids learn how to eat well in addition to becoming expert label detectives. Come see what's cooking!
