The Facilitator Guide Is Here!

We’re excited to share that the new Month of Action Facilitator Guide is here! Created through a collaboration between UNEP and The Edible Schoolyard Project, the guide provides educators with practical tools to help students explore food waste and become advocates for change.

The guide includes food waste lesson plans tailored to different subjects, a methodology for conducting a cafeteria food waste audit, and guidance for teachers and school administrators on implementing a Month of Action in their schools.

The guide is a valuable resource for educators looking to raise awareness, spark meaningful conversations, and empower students to take action around food waste.

The International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) is observed annually on September 29, highlighting the urgent need to reduce food waste and transform our food systems. Stop Food Waste Day takes place each year on the last Wednesday of April, providing another opportunity for schools and communities to get involved.
