Celebrating Abundance at Our Stockton Community Farm
Our Stockton community came out in full force, some 500 strong, on Saturday, August 2nd for our Abundance Festival. A well-suited new name, chosen by community vote, for Edible Schoolyard Stockton's annual August farm festivities.
Attendees had the opportunity to pick up fresh organic produce in the beautiful market-style CSA and helped harvest from select garden beds bursting with a vibrant array of squash, okra, tomatoes, eggplant, stone fruit, melons, and sunflowers. All ages joined a Q&A on bees and honey and enjoyed story time. There was ample time to stroll the acres of green space while visiting thirteen community partners offering a variety of resources and local vendors sharing provisions.
Food was plentiful! Our outdoor classroom hosted a cooking demonstration with samples, nourishing cups of harvest soup were shared, and delicious plate lunches were served. DJ Tai kept the energy high and ushered in the inaugural karaoke session on the farm. A couple of neighborhood cowboys on horseback joined us again, and all our door prizes found new homes. Shout outs to the Stockton Ports Baseball Team for their support and donating a VIP experience package for this season and to GirlTrek for leading another invigorating farm tour.
Our “exchange station” also grew this festival, offering a place to bring gently loved school supplies and kitchen equipment to swap for “new to you” treasures, alongside the plant clippings and book exchange.
Indeed a bountiful day and a gorgeous reminder that abundance comes in many forms. We hope you’ll join ESY Stockton’s final farm festival of 2025—Fall Fest on Saturday, October 18.
