About the Program:

We aim to create a hydroponic garden in an urban setting at Boston Latin School (BLS) to raise student interest in sustainable agriculture,to promote eating healthy locally grown produce, and to utilize the hydroponic garden as an engaging learning tool in science courses.

Our Freight Farm is a shipping container and is outfitted with tools needed for high-volume, consistent harvests. We have a system for germination and seedling growth where all the tiny starts off. After we place them within our vertical hydroponic towers, our closed-loop irrigation system takes care of the rest! Despite what seems like a seemingly independent project, our farm's 4G hotspot allows us to stay connected to the farm 24/7 to monitor all its environmental conditions.

We have a fabulous team that is on site during late September - early June. We are constantly producing magnificent greens such as kale and lettuce as well as attempting to integrate our fresh produce into school cafeterias and other organizations in the community.

Please feel free to visit our site to learn more about our sustainable farm and our wonderful team!
