John Fisher is the Outreach Director of Life Lab located on the UCSC Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems Farm. John is a founding member of the California School Garden Network. Since 1996 John has worked exclusively in garden-based education programs teaching pre-school through high school students and provided professional development opportunities for thousands of educators. John was a contributor to the California School Garden Network’s book Gardens for Learning: Creating and Sustaining School Gardens and co-author of The Book of Gardening Projects for Kids: 101 Ways to Get Outside, Dirty, and Having Fun. John co-manages the California School Garden Training Program and helped to created the Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden Training Model and the Garden-Enhanced Nutrition Education Training Model, Additionally he has created various videos on garden-based instruction.
When he is not working he enjoys volunteering in his son's school garden:)
