This document provides basic guidelines created by The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and the Department of Health (DOH) to assist District schools with establishing and maintaining chicken programs. This document was created in response to the growing number of schools in the District that have requested guidance on caring for chickens in school gardens. While the benefits are many, chickens do require vigilant care and attention.

My hope is that other School Garden Support Organizations can use this document to create a document that fits the needs of their respective regions.
