About the Program:

We are a suburban, public school of approximately 400 students.  We are located in West Hills, California.  Our garden consists of 8 raised beds with a pergola and some grape vines.  We are currently growing organic vegetables and have a few fruit trees.  Our hope is to expand our garden to include espallied fruit trees.  It's good to dream!

We currently have expanded our garden area to include an outdoor classroom!  It feels good to dig up asphalt!!!  We have hopes to extend our garden now that we have a clean soil test!  Our students are eager to grow their food!  They are anticipating the day we can harvest and cook.  They ask regularly when we will use our food for a better school lunch.  That makes us happy!

We have 42% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch through Title 1 funding.  It is encouraging that our students want to eat fresh fruits and vegetables that they have grown!  Our goal is to  take the farm to table concept a matter of feet.....from our raised beds to our outdoor classroom where we can prepare a meal!
